GAF Food - A world of fine foods

GAF Foods Australia Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of GAF Control, a family business that was started some 50 years ago. In an area dominated by corporate giants, GAF has not only survived but also grown and prospered. Chairman of the Group, Stuart Foley, nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 has always believed in the strength of family owned businesses.

GAF Foods was formed six years ago to supply imported foods to the independent trade and major supermarket chains. The business has expanded steadily from an initial importation of 15 containers in the first year to over 200 in 2004. Products are sourced and imported from all over the world with buyers making regular overseas trips to secure new and exciting products. All GAF's suppliers must be HACCP, BRC or EFSIS accredited. In a relatively short period of time GAF has become noted for its reliability, service and its promise to always meet demand.

Importation is only one aspect of the GAF Foods story. With 100,000 sq ft of climatic controlled warehousing, GAF Foods was also able to offer its clients a total package of importing, warehousing and distribution on a national basis.

The movement to "Private Label" has seen a further 200,000 sq ft of climatic warehousing purchased. Situated on 22 acres of land at Altona North in Victoria, it is a massive investment in the future. To date GAF?s investment in warehousing alone stands at over $50 million. As supermarket chains becoming increasingly more reliant on local warehousing, GAF Foods is clearly positioning itself to meet those future requirements.

The success of any company is through the people it employs and GAF Foods is no exception, General Manager Tony McKay with over 25 years experience in International Trade heads up a small but dedicated team of professionals. With its own in house design team GAF works closely with both the client and the supplier.

GAF's association with Peaty Mills in England and the Rhodes Food Group in South Africa gives the company access to major manufacturers from around the globe. It's clients are recognised international names, from Loblaws in Canada to Tesco in the UK, Pick n Pay in South Africa and Coles Myer and Woolworth?s in Australia.

On the drawing board and due to be commissioned at the end of 2005 is an investment of $15 million in plant and equipment to manufacture our own range of products to meet consumer and client demand.

Our objective is to work with our customers as partners in locating the very best quality product at the very best price.

We take pride in our team of experienced personnel because we recognise that "People are Profit".

Although group sales are now over $100 million dollars per annum we are aiming to double that in the near future.
